Funeral services for Ricky Joe Scott Sr., 67, were held on February 22, 2023, at Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment followed in Lone Star Cemetery in Point.
Mr. Scott died on February, 19, 2023. He was born on September 29, 1955, to Billy Joe Scott and Anne Owens Scott in Belle Glade, Florida. He moved to Texas in his early teens. He started driving a truck at a young age with his dad, hauling cows from Florida to California. He worked for many years for J. F. Stone Trucking and Jack Stone and met his future wife, Carol Stone, there. They were married on November 21, 1980, in Hugo, Oklahoma and made their home in Rains County, living most of it in Point. He continued to drive as a long distance driver until his retirement and enjoyed when his wife, sons and grandsons could travel with him.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife; mother, Anne Heady; step-mother, Brenda Scott; mother-in-law, Helen Stone; siblings, Billie Anne and Don Epperson, Tommy Scott, Glenn Lorie Scott, Judy Scott, Karen Scott and John Brent Scott; brother-in-law, Wesley Stone and Tammy; children, Priscillia and Jimmy Abrams, Ricky Jr. and Jennifer Scott, Kandi and David Warren, Billy Jack and Christine Scott; grandchildren, DJ, Bailie, Austin, Katelyn, Jordyn, Kordell, Lacey, Braden, Micah, Kagen, Barrett, Eli, Noah, Hatley, Cooper and Harper; great-grandchildren, Milah and Cooper; faithful companions, Stella and Honey; Wendy Scott, Presley Sellers, Lexie Alexander; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, Bill Heady; father-in-law, Jack Stone; brother, Sammy Scott; niece, Jessica Scott; and sisters-in-law, Debbie Stone and Sheila Scott.
