Funeral services for Peggy Beavers Mitchell, 88, were held on June 2, at Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment followed at Greenview Cemetery in Brashear.
Mrs. Mitchell died on May 31, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 11, 1938, to Ollie Beavers and Minnie Vaughn Beavers.
Mrs. Mitchell married Ivan Mitchell in Clovis, New Mexico on October 27, 1956, and they were married until his death in 2019. They were married 63 years.
Mrs. Mitchell moved to Emory from West Texas and it didn’t take long for gardening to become one of her biggest hobbies. She definitely had a green thumb. She loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and making memories with her children and grandchildren. She was known as Nene. There were always lots of meals and shenanigans at Nene and Pops’ house.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her daughters, Karen Davis and husband Mike, and Kara Good and husband Carl; grandchildren, Brooke Millican and wife LaWanda, Charlie Nalls, Leslee Arredondo and husband Isai, Melissa Eldridge, and Hollie Kennedy; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a multitude of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan Mitchell; daughter, Laquetta Kennedy; son, Manuel Montoya; and siblings, Wayne Beavers and Alvin Beavers.
