A Celebration of Life service for Marie Dean Booth Rodgers Gowin, 84, will be held Saturday, August 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Country Baptist Church. Bro. Mike Frazier will officiate.
Interment will follow at Dougherty Cemetery in Emory.
Mrs. Gowin died on July 23, 2021, surrounded by her daughter, Sherry Booth-Boyer, and son-in-law, Donald G. Boyer, along with close friend Marjorie Rolles and her hospice family in Duncan, Okla. She died due to complications of COPD. She was born in Arlington, Ill., to Joseph Albert and Hazel Lola (Beaber) Dean on February 22,1937, along with her twin sister, Martha Jane Dean.
She is a graduate of the Class of 1956, from Mendota Township High School, Mendota, Ill., and leaves many cherished classmates behind, which she spoke of often, and shared many memories of her school years.
Mrs. Gowin moved to Duncan, Okla., in 2019 after living in Texas for the past 48 years to be with family.
She was married to Wilbur Booth from 1966-1982. After his death, she married Bobby Ray Rodgers, formerly of Emory, in 1983, and he died in 2000. She was married to WD Gowin, formerly of Emory, from 2003-2015, until his death.
Mrs. Gowin is survived by her daughter and son-in-law of Duncan, Okla.; grandchildren, Bridgette Marie Rickard and husband Ron of Merritt Island, Fla., Deanna Marie Bailey and husband Benjamin of Pace, Fla., Anthony John Leto of Cocoa, Fla., Joseph Dean, Sunshine Alisha, and Derick Hunter Booth all of Fort Worth, James A. Booth of Rock Falls, Ill., and Christianna Renai Boyer of Panama City, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Brianna Marie Rickard of Merritt Island, Fla. and Trinity Nicole Leto of Milton, Fla.; best friend, Rebecca Arey, formerly of Point and now of Clovis, N.M.; Melissa Godsmith of Emory; her beloved church family at Country Baptist Church in Point; many friends and loved ones; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Wilbur Booth, Bobby Ray Rodgers and WD Gowin; brothers, Richard G. Dean and wife Bunny, Leonard L. Dean and wife Joanne, and Joseph D. Dean and wife JoAnne; sisters, Esther M. Nornhold and husband Ralph, Dorothy A. Cook and husban John, and her twin sister, Martha J. Fuller and husband Roger; son, Thomas Wayne Booth Sr.; grandchildren, Thomas Wayne (TJ) Booth Jr., Jeffery D’Wayne Davis; and twins Nicole Marie Leto and Nicholas John Leto.
