Services for Lennis Dean “L.D.” Kearney, 76, of Emory, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at County Line Baptist Church, Point, with Bro. Ed Ridge and Bro. Wayne Darty officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Interment will follow in Hooker Cemetery, Lone Oak.
Mr. Kearney passed away February 9, 2024, peacefully at his home in Point. He was born June 18, 1947, in Greenville, to the late Frankie Ray and Mettie Christopher Kearney. L.D. lived most of his life in Rains County and graduated from Emory High School, class of 1965. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Point. When he was young, he worked as a stocker for Safeway Grocery. He later owned and operated a service station and was a sheet rock contractor for Fox and Jacobs Homes. He started Kearney Trailers in 1981 and built a family of employees through the years that he was very passionate about. His grandkids were his pride and joy. Watching them play sports is where he was happiest. L.D. was a regular member of “The Table of Knowledge” at the Ya’ll Come Back Café in Emory.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Donna Fletcher of Point; four sons, Marty Kearney and wife Jennifer of Bullard, Koby Kearney and Jamie Dick of Emory, Tanner Kearney and wife Brittnea of Point, Danny Ray Bowman and wife Carol of Point; daughter, Taylor Fletcher and husband Tracey Kirby of Lone Oak; brother, Bob Kearney and wife Tanna of Saltillo; sister, Deb McMerrell of Emory; eight grandchildren, Stormy, Alexis, Nick, Logyn, Seth, Maddox, Brinklee, and Tatum.
Pallbearers will be Brian Ditto, Brian Lane, Rick Barber, Rick Mosley, Mike Wolf, and Mike Chouteau.
Honorary pallbearers are the Kearney Trailer Family, County Line Baptist Church Sunday School Class II, and his poker buddies.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at County Line Baptist Church.
