A memorial service for Walter Jules Smith, 74, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Smith died on August 2, 2024, at his residence in Alba. He was born on June 10, 1950, in Dallas, to Walter Sonny and Estelle Dickens Smith.
Mr. Smith lived most of his life in Kaufman County. He loved to race cars on dirt tracks and was well decorated in high school sports. On May 23, 1986, he married Judy Butler in Grand Saline. He worked as a trucking dispatcher and was also a manager of Lindale Rural Water.
He is survived by sons, Adam Smith of Alba and Andrew Smith of West Columbia; daughter, Amber Lynette Smyth and husband Kevin of Mansfield; sister, Delana Smith of Palestine; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Smith; and two brothers, Weldon Smith and Ronnie Smith.
