Funeral services for Wallace McCollum Jr., 74, were held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Emory City Cemetery in Emory.
Wallace “Wally” McCollum Jr. died on July 22, 2026, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Rowlett, on his 74th birthday. He was born on July 22, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, to Wallace McCollum Sr. and Byrnece Felton McCollum.
Mr. McCollum spent nearly the entirety of his life in Emory, having moved there as an infant and made it his home until about 2015. The community of Emory was more than just a place to live for him—it was a source of pride and lifelong connection. His love for local activities, especially football, was ever evident. He closely followed Rains County football.
Sports were a central passion for him. He was a dedicated follower of the Dallas Cowboys and stayed engaged with all sports.
Mr. McCollum was preceded in death by his parents.
