Sally Jean Turner

1948 – 2025

Sally Jean Turner, 76, of Emory, died on June 25, 2025. She was born on December 9, 1948, in Iola, Kansas. 

Mrs. Turner graduated from King High School in Corpus Christi in 1966 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.

After college, Sally served two years in the U.S. Navy as a nurse. She then dedicated her career to geriatric nursing, eventually serving as Director of Nursing for multiple long-term care facilities. Known as a compassionate leader and tireless advocate for both patients and staff, Sally devoted her life to caring for others.

Sally enjoyed gardening, raising her many chickens, and spending time with her family. She was especially active in her grandchildren’s lives and could always be found cheering them on at their many activities. She married Rick Turner on March 23, 1991, and shared 27 wonderful years together, during which their families became one.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her sister, Sue Dean (Sumner); children, Brian Turner (Kristy), Lorie Gaffney (Damon), Ryan Morrison (Shelby), Mark Morrison (Laura), and Julie Elmore (David);grandchildren, Alisha Williams, Sarah Williams, Noah Morrison, Matthew Morrison, Luke Morrison, Casey Morrison, Caleb Morrison, Klara Turner, Olivia Elmore, Anna Grace Elmore, and Benjamin Elmore; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel Taylor and Myles Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Lewis; and husband, Rick Turner.
