Funeral services for Robert “Butch” Carl Smitty, 81, of Emory, were held on November 14, 2023, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba. Bro. Robert Burns officiated. Interment followed in Crandall Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Alfonso Ureta, Mark Graham, Dalton Graham, Taylor Willingham, J.C. Smitty and J.T. Smitty.
Mr. Smitty died on November 9, 2023, at his residence in Emory. He was born on November 19, 1941, in Dallas, to Bob and Alta Louise Kelly Smitty. On May 17, 1958, he married Martha LeeAnn Tucker in Dallas. They moved from Dallas to Emory 27 years ago. Mr. Smitty was a faithful child of God and a member of Miracle Faith Baptist Church, Emory. He enjoyed trucks, racing and working puzzles. He loved his family and grandkids with a passion.
Mr. Smitty is survived by his wife of 65 years; daughters, Carolyn Gail Smitty of Caddo Mills and Ruth Ann Willingham and husband Steve of Mesquite; brother, Bobby Lynn Smitty and wife Angie of Point; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Smitty; sisters, Rita Crecy and Shirley Sanders; and brothers, Charlie Ray Smitty and Granville Smitty.
