Mack Arley Kerley

1942 – 2022

A memorial service for Mack Arley Kerley, 80, of Emory, was held on August 27, 2022, at Elm Baptist Church in Emory. 

Mr. Kerley died on Friday, August 19, 2022. He was born March 22, 1942 in Hubbard, to Ottie Alfred Kerley and Lela Elizabeth Cotton Kerley. He grew up in Delia before falling in love with Ruth Ann Asbill. They were married on November 12, 1966. He served in the Vietnam War where he transported bombs and ammunition across Thailand and continued driving a truck after leaving the service.

He loved fishing and visiting family and friends. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He brought light to wherever he went. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Emory.

Mr. Kerley is survived by his wife; daughter, Debora Ann Kerley Walter; son, Brent Alan Kerley and wife Suzanne; brothers, Delbert Kerley and wife Judy, Raymond Kerley, and Everett Kerley and wife Imogene; sister, Ruby Nash; grandchildren, Devon Reynolds, Jessica Long, John McDaniel, Melissa Diaz and husband Michael, Robert “Bobby” Walter, Micah Kerley and Lily Kerley; great-grandchildren, Kynleigh Reynolds, Brantley Long and Axton McDaniel; and many extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Frances Lavern Graham; and brother, James Leldon Kerley.
