Juanita “Nita” Blake

1928 – 2022

A memorial service for Eunice Juanita Blake, 93, of Point, will be held at the Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Blake died on September 17, 2022, at her residence in Point. She was born on October 6, 1928, to Marvin Kuykendall and Lorene Chastain in Abernathy. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Point. She married Bill Blake Jr. in 1948 in Abernathy. They moved to Dallas, but after 30 years of living in the big city they wanted a quieter life and moved to Point in 1984. She worked as a book binder with Taylor Publishing for 16 years. After retirement, she devoted herself to being a homemaker.

She was more than a mother and a grandmother. She was the keeper of secrets and the one you went to for advice. She taught everyone how to cook and do the laundry. She loved to dance and waltz, especially with her son, Joel. She loved to read and cook amazing dishes. She also loved to sew and crochet in her younger years. She loved her family and leaves behind a memorable legacy.

Mrs. Blake is survived by her sons, Joel Blake and wife Patty, Johnny Blake, and James Blake and wife Gisela; daughter, Janice Steward and husband Roger; granddaughters, Tonya Buchanan and husband David, Heather Bales and husband Brandon, Chelsea Cervera and husband Victor, Shana Duke, Malina Opp, Daphne Steitle, Wendy Stahl, Halie Werge and husband Tom and Stacy Taylor; grandsons, Chad Blake, Phillip Blake and wife Lori, Montana Blake, Madrid Blake, Michael Bobo and wife Karen, Chris Bobo and wife Tandy, Andrew Crocker and Ben Taylor; 35 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Jimmy Blake; daughter, Judy Bobo; four brothers; three sisters; and granddaughter, Nikaela.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
