Services for Johnny Ray Rice, Sr., 86, of Alba, were held May 8 at Amazing Grace Fellowship Church. Bro. Byron George officiated.
Interment followed in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba. Pallbearers were Roger Rice, Braden Reynolds, Josh Mize, Justin Hayes, Jonathan Mize and Tyler Dryer.
Mr. Rice died on May 5, 2021, in Mineola. He was born August 25, 1934, in Quinlan, to Isaac Jackson and Molly Doris Melton Rice. On March 2, 1970, he married Rose Marie Bullock in Dallas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He had lived 49 years in the Alba area and was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church. He loved racing on dirt tracks, restoring antique tractors, fishing and camping.
Mr. Rice is survived by two daughters, Kathy Reynolds and husband David of Alba and Judy Dryer and husband Wilbert of Centerville; son, Johnny J. Rice and wife Mary of Seligman, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Roger Rice, Eric Rice, Justin Hayes, Tyler Dryer, Jonathan Mize, Josh Mize, Braden Reynolds and Yolanda Scott; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 41 years; two sons, Johnny Rice Jr. and Roger Rice; daughter, Connie Mize; brother, Emil Rice; and sister, Christine Milliken.
