A funeral service for John Alfred Blanton, 90, of Emory will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory. Bro. Wayne Wolfe will officiate.
Interment will follow in Clifton Cemetery.
Mr. Blanton died at home on February 8, 2020. He was born on May 3, 1929, in Rains County to Fred Blanton and Della Holman-Blanton. He married Mary Joyce Potts on February 6, 1954, in Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Army, was a farmer, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for 40 years with L-3.
Mr. Blanton is survived by his daughter, Sonjia Reep of Emory; son, Ronald Blanton Sr. and wife, Darlene of Emory; grandchildren, Melody Godfrey and husband Jason, Sherree Latham and husband Douglas, John Hill and wife Rachel, Rhonda Donaldson and husband Michael, and Ronald Blanton Jr., and wife Danelle; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Blanton Shaw; and numerous loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2019; great-grandson, Wesley “Bubba” Pruitt; two brothers; and one sister.
