Funeral services for Jerry Otho Carlisle, 76, of Point, were held on December 5, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Emory. Interment followed at Smyrna Cemetery.
Mr. Carlisle died on Thursday December 2, 2021, in Sulphur Springs. He was born on January 4, 1945, in Paris, to Otho Jeffie Carlisle and Maurine Macon Miller.
He married Lana Shockley on July 7, 1995, in Athens. His retirement years were dedicated to giving back and honoring veterans. He served actively with the American Legion and spent endless hours transporting local disabled veterans to their doctor appointments.
Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife; sons, Shawn Carlisle and wife Vena, Scott Carlisle, Jack Carlisle, and Alan Henderson Jr. and wife Kerry; daughters, Becky McManus and Jackie Oxford; sisters, Jean Jones, Jackie McGinty and husband Charlie, Jennifer Jamison and Janet Sue Toney; brother, Robert James Carlisle and wife Donna; grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Megan, Cole, Nicholas, Chaz, Riley, Logan, Landon and Reagan; great-grandchild, Caybree.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Johnny Carlisle; sister, Jodie Dusek; grandson, Nate Oxford; brother-in-law, Cliff Jones.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
