A memorial service for Janet Lee Gowin Mitchell, 66, of Sulphur Springs was held February 3 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel in Sulphur Springs.
Mrs. Mitchell died peacefully in her sleep on January 28, 2020, at home. She was born on October 23, 1953, in Dallas to Norma Lee and Wayne Dee (W.D.) Gowin. She married Gregory Madison Mitchell on January 1, 1972, in a wedding service held in her parents’ home in Emory. To that union, they had one son, Gregory Dan Mitchell.
Mrs. Mitchell was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She loved doing things for others and helping wherever she could.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband; son and wife Barbie; grandchildren, Dillon and Dalton Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Rae and Kaycee Lee Ann Mitchell of Sulphur Springs; sister, Rhonda Karen Gowin; niece, Carrie Lee Anne Gowin and Neil Young of Emory; nephew, Andrew Adcock and wife Jane of Greenville; step-mother, Marie Gowin of Duncan, Okla.; grand-nieces and -nephews, Alexis, Alyssa, Austin, Ashton, Autumn, Jessie Karen, Asa and Anaiese; and special sister, Sharon Horrocks.
