James Arthur Arnold

1933 – 2024

A Celebration of Life Memorial for James Arthur Arnold, 91, will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00 p.m., at Dunbar Church.

Mr. Arnold died at home on Saturday, September 7, 2024. He was born in Ada, Okla., on August 19, 1933, to William A. Arnold and Cora Etta Arnold.

Mr. Arnold was raised and attended school in Rains County. He married his first wife, Iris Murlene Arnold in Emory in 1953, who preceded him in death in 1995. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Dallas.

He later married Edna Irene Arnold on December 25, 2010, in Emory.

He worked for General Motors as a forklift operator and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. After retiring, his lifelong experience with livestock allowed him to work as Foreman on Ivan Alexander Jr. Ranch for approximately 20 years.

He was devoted to his Christian faith and family. He was the kind of man that a handshake was his word. He belonged to Calvary Baptist Church in Emory. He was a committee member of Dunbar Cemetery for many years. He was a Boy Scout Leader mentoring the youth in his younger years.

His favorite hobby was growing flowers, and you could often hear him humming along to He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands. He loved growing vegetables and tomatoes were his favorite. He loved a good game of cards and could play a mean game of dominoes. He loved to drink his morning coffee on the front porch enjoying the wildlife, while waving to friends and neighbors passing by.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Arnold of Emory; sons, James Arthur Arnold Jr. of Ben Wheeler, Michael Lee Arnold of Euless, and Wade William Arnold and wife Diane of Narvon Penn.; daughter, Pamela Jean Arnold-Breault and husband Charles of Emory; and his bonus children, Andy Pecina and wife Kim of Omaha Neb.; Laticha Jarrett and husband Jason of Emory; brother, Frank Arnold of Granbury; sister, Mary Ima McKinnie and husband Rudy of Dallas; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother, Jack Arnold; sisters, Lucy Northcutt and Geneva Hays; and two grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Arnold.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dunbar Cemetery, Emory, Texas.
