Harold Lawrence Carr

1940 – 2023

A Celebration of Life for Harold Lawrence Carr, 83, will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Calvary Baptist Church, 229 S FM 779, Emory, Texas 75440.

Mr. Carr died on December 19, 2023. He was born on November 26, 1940, in Benbush, West Virginia, to Josephine Uchic and Roy Carr.  

He attended Mountaineer High School in Davis, W. Va. and went on to serve in the US Army in the 96th Ordinance Company working as a Nuclear Weapons Assembler. After his enlistment, he attended North Texas State University. He consistently worked two and sometimes three jobs simultaneously to provide for his family.  His career included working at Texas Instruments, Otis Engineering, Caterpillar and Rains County where he retired as an Environmental Officer. He was so skilled at machining that one of the parts he made during his time at Texas Instruments was used for the US space program.

Mr. Carr was a dependable family man and friend. He had a knack for fixing or building anything mechanical. He enjoyed time spent on his Ham radio and being a member of the Rains Amateur Radio Association of Emory. He was a hardworking man and loved being outdoors cutting and splitting firewood, mowing or maintaining the homestead. He was intelligent and described as Superman and the strongest man his children had ever seen. He had a willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need, generous with his time and labor. 

Mr. Carr is survived by his son, Jason Carr; daughter, Dena Carr Rambo and husband, Derek; son, Joseph Carr; grandchildren, Forenn Carr Jones and husband Bobby, Jaxson Rambo and Landry Rambo; great-grandchild, Cora Jones; sisters, Mary Frances Evans, Barbara Hilliard, Patricia Bass, and Pauline Lee and husband, David; brother, Patrick Carr and wife Louanna Carr; and a host of nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Josephine Carr; wife, Beverly, mother of Joseph; former wife, Susie, mother of Jason and Dena; brother, William Joseph; sister, Joann Evans, and brothers-in-law, Jack Evans, Jimmy Hilliard, Gilbert Bass and Dale Evans.
