Georgia LaRue Whitt

1938 – 2025

Funeral services for Georgia LaRue Whitt, 87, formerly of Emory and Terrell and lately of Flint, will be held on Saturday, August 30, at 10:00 a.m., at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell. Interment will follow at Dunbar Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Luckett, Brandon Luckett, Bryson Davis, Jerry Stone, Gary Stone and Dalton Pearson.

Mrs. Whitt died on August 22, 2025, in Tyler. She was born on February 18, 1938, in Emory, to Loyd and Imogene Luckett.

She graduated from Emory High School in 1955, and then received her license to become a LVN. She began her career at Terrell State Hospital and was a dedicated employee for 20 years until retirement. She went to work as a nurse with Terrell ISD and the many students, teachers, parents and administrators came to rely on her daily for her care given to each of them for 15 years. She enjoyed activities with her family and friends including fishing, sewing, going to garage sales to find ‘treasures’ and making precious memories with her beloved family members and friends. She was active in the Rocky Point Community Center in Emory for many years.

Mrs. Whitt is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Whitt; sons, Matthew Whitt and wife Natalee, and James Whitt and wife Felicia; grandsons, Simeon Lee Whitt, Asa Loyd Whitt and Luke Alistair Whitt; and many other extended family and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Pauline Luckett.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel in Terrell.
