David Wallace

1930 – 2024

A funeral service for David Wallace, 93, was held on June 11, at Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Connor Jackson, Christopher Jackson, Eugene “Skip” Arnold, Keith Dodson, Chris David Wallace Jr. and David Wilcher. Honorary pallbearers were Sampson Wallace Jr, John Wallace, Shawn Byrd, Chris David Wallace and Russell Wayne Winn.

Mr. Wallace died on June 7, 2024. He was born on June 20, 1930, in Fruitvale, to W.C. Wallace and Rosie (Hays) Wallace.

Mr. Wallace served in the Army during the Korean War and sustained burn injuries while on duty. He was honorably discharged with with 100 percent disability in October of 1957. Following his military career he was successful in the business world. He owned several small businesses and eventually established Tiger Excavating in Quinlan. The growth of the business led to the founding of John Wallace Excavating in 1985.

He married Myrtle Wallace on March 29, 1978, and he held dear memories of his previous marriages to Kimiko Wallace, Norma Wallace and Etta May Wallace.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Wallace; daughters, Christy Wallace Owen and husband Wayne of McKinney, Sharon Lee Wallace of Dallas, Denise Lamothe and husband Steve Lamothe of Tomball and Jennifer Wallace of Emory; sons, Chris David Wallace of Howe and John Wallace of Emory; step-daughters, Darlene Kitchens of Dallas, Charlene Blanchard and husband Augusto of Parkland, Florida; Mary Ann Cowart of Emory, and Dallas Theurer and husband Jason of Point; stepson, Eugene “Skip” Arnold and wife Theresa of Emory; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Corbett Wallace and Wayford Lee Wallace; stepdaughter, Rosalind Walker; grandson, Ronnie Marshall Jr.; brothers, Dendon Wallace and Bonnie Lynn Winn; sisters, Clara Ruth Wallace and Dessie Ragland; and daughter-in-law, Carolynn Wallace.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
