The Miller Grove Robotics Team competed at the Vex Robotics Competition (VRC) Texas Region 2 State Championship in Terrell held on Saturday, Feb. 22. The team, made up of 7th and 8th graders, traveled to Terrell with their robot which qualified for state based on its ranking in the Robot Skills Challenge at the previous competition in Terrell. County roads suffer heavy damage

Rains County roads suffered heavy damages during the recent rains. A total of 3.52 inches of rains was recorded Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, February 10-12. A bridge on County Road 3160 crossing Magee’s Creek was closed after most of its support was washed away during the rains. County Judge Wayne Wolfe said he and commissioners Mike Willis and Mike Godwin went out to the site and surveyed the damage. During the Rains ISD School Board meeting on Monday, February 10, Assistant Superintendent of Finance Jeff Fisher informed trustees that the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) had determined that the appraised value on properties in Rains County were too low again which would lead to a cut in funding for the school district from the state of Texas.
