A funeral service for Annie L. Johnson, 93, was held on September 5, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home. Interment followed at Dunbar Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Emory. She was born on July 7, 1930, to Quillie C. Wade and Fannie F. Gowin in Rains County.
Mrs. Johnson dedicated her life to being a supportive farmer’s wife and was known for always being there for everyone. Her nurturing presence extended beyond her family. She played an integral role in her community, famously organizing the bluegrass festival for the volunteer fire department.
She was a proud member of Dunbar School in the Dunbar Community and a member of Point Church of Christ. She enjoyed her vegetable garden, and found joy in canning, cooking and baking. She considered family her proudest accomplishment.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Daren Davis and Carrie, Michelle Burns and Don, and Coy Terry and Carmen; great-grandchildren, Bentley Davis and Samantha, Adrian Pena and Leah, Autumn Costley and Josh, Sean Terry, Leo Terry, and Breana Burns; and six great-great-grandchildren
