Last week I received my September 24 issue of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald. The front-page photo showed a burn pile with Franklin County Sheriff Ricky Jones and Franklin County Clerk Betty Crane looking on while fire consumed several boxes that were placed on the woodpile.
