Neva Adcock Wesson

1930 – 2023

Funeral service for Neva Adcock Wesson, age 92 of Point were held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Point. Interment was held at Lone Star Cemetery with Andrew Adcock, Eric Adcock, Mark Pearson, Ricardo Villasenor, Ryan Armstrong, and Shawn Armstrong serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Williams, Pete Suits, Jackie Oler, David Frost, Rodney Smith, James White, and Buster Rivers.

Mrs. Wesson passed away on September 28, 2023, at her residence. She was born on October 27, 1930, in Como, Texas to William Thomas “Willie” and Maggie (Fite) Brown. Her mother died a year after she was born, and her father married Bessie McCullough who loved and raised her as her own.

Neva married Willie Adcock on November 11, 1945, in Saltillo, Texas. They remained married until his death in 2004. Neva later married Chuck Wesson on December 28, 2011, in Heath, Texas.

Neva worked at the Point Post Office, First State Bank of Point, Griffin Communications, and Wilson Orwosky Funeral Home. She served on the board of the Rains County Chamber of Commerce, Child Protective Services, and the Point Housing Authority. She was secretary-treasurer of Caring People of Rains County and was a long-standing member of Point Ladies Civic Club. She was a member of Point Baptist Church where she served as Choir Director for many years and taught Sunday School until her death.

She is survived by her sons, Gayle Adcock and wife, Pat; Jack Adcock and wife, Brenda; and Melvin Adcock. Grandchildren, Andrew Adcock and wife, Jane; Kelley Villasenor and husband, Ricardo; Jennifer Pearson and husband, Mark; Eric Adcock and wife, Brittnea. Great-grandchildren, Victoria Crawford, Olivia Villasenor, Ryan Villasenor, Reid Pearson, Hadley Pearson, Alexis Adcock and Jesse Adcock; sister, Wanda Mercer, and sister-in-law Helen Brown. Michael Wesson, Bobby Wesson and wife Elizabeth, Melinda Moon and husband Jim, Nancy Wesson, 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

Neva was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sister, Marie Thompson; brother, J.W. Brown; daughter-in-law, Donna Adcock, and son-in-law, Charles Wesson.
