Services for Morris Wendell Baker Jr., 69, of Alba, are scheduled for Friday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Alba. Pastor Rick Rumfelt will officiate.
Interment will follow in Golden Cemetery, Golden. Pallbearers will be Ernie Bryant, Pete Baker, Bucky Baker, Cliff Baker, Donald Rumfelt, Josh Rumfelt and Jason Maestas.
Mr. Baker died on October 9, 2021, in Tyler. He was born on September 16, 1952, in Dallas, to Morris Wendell Sr. and Billie Ruth Baker, He married Lana Kay Davis on June 8, 1973, and lived in the Alba-Golden area for the last 36 years. Since 1989 he worked for the Golden Water Supply Corporation as the general manager. He loved hunting and fishing and would help anyone at any time.
Mr. Baker is survived by his son, Morris Wendell Baker III, of Golden; daughter, Sancy Macelita Beth Baker-Green and husband James of Golden; brother, Matthew Baker and wife Cindy of Wills Point; sisters, Margie Corbitt and husband John, and Mary Baker and James Hollman all of Golden; grandchildren, Dylon McGinnis, Destiny Baker, Morris Wendell Baker IV, Jayden Green and Landon Green; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, William Baker; sister, Cindy Rumfelt; and niece, Angel Bryant.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 14, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
