Funeral services for Mike Carter, 75, of Point, were held at County Line Baptist Church in Point on January 26. Internment followed at Greenview Cemetery.
Mr. Carter died on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 5, 1946, to John Henry Carter and Edith Williams in Sulphur Springs.
He graduated from Miller Grove High School. He worked in law enforcement and served as Rains County Sheriff from 1976 to 1984. He retired from L-3 as security. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of County Line Baptist Church.
Mr. Carter is survived by daughter, Brandi Sells and husband Brandon; grandchildren, Darynn Thorn and husband Chris, Breanna Sells, Hanna Sells; one great-grandchild on the way; and sisters, Nona Vickers, Bonnie Fry and Jo Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Charles Carter.
