A private celebration of life service for Mary Lisa Garrett Vinson, 69, of Point, will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Clifton Cemetery. Mrs. Vinson died on May 27, 2023, after a battle with lung cancer. She was born on April 17, 1954, in Greenville, to David Garrett and Frances Pippin.
Mrs. Vinson was raised in Dallas and was a member of the second graduating class of Skyline High School. She was involved in the theater, music and drill team programs. She loved music and played piano, guitar and saxophone. While attending Eastfield Community College, she painted stage sets. She worked mostly in business office jobs for 42 years and retired at the age of 62. She moved from the Dallas metroplex back to the family homestead in Point. She enjoyed golfing and walking her dog, Sweetie Pie.
Faith was an important part of Lisa’s life, especially after she retired, as was philanthropy. She donated generously to several charities, supported local fund-raising efforts, and was a member of the American Legion.
She is survived by daughter, Jennifer Fisher and wife Maylen Gaspar of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son, Dylan Fisher of Point; first husband, James Walter Fisher of Kaufman; brothers, Dave Garrett and wife Janie of Coppell, and Bill Garrett and wife Kay of Point; aunt, Cornelia Lyles Garrett of Emory; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clifton Cemetery Association through her brother Bill Garrett at 6760 FM 275, Point, TX 75472.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
