Marilyn “Louise” Poston Means

1941 – 2024

A Celebration of Life service for Marilyn “Louise” Poston Means, 82, of Alba, was held on January 8, 2024, at Enon Baptist Church with Pastor Reggie Day and Brother Tibby Wright officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Dakota Poston, Justin Hass, Jake Hass, Maddox Nelson, Riley Sheehan and Rob Pfaff. Honorary pallbearers were her great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Means died on January 6, 2024, in Bullard. She was born on August 2, 1941, in Gilmer, to Walter Edgar and Mary Ann (Brown) Moore. Mrs. Poston lived most of her life in the counties of Rains, Wood and Van Zandt. She attended school in Rains County and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. She retired from the Alba Post Office and also worked as a dairy farmer, cattle rancher and homemaker. She loved her family, grandchildren’s sports, playing basketball, bingo and Pokeno. 

She is survived by her sons, Jim and wife Carol, and Gilley and wife Gay; grandchildren, Ashley Nelson and husband Brian, Lindsey Pond and husband Brian, Dakota Poston and wife Alicia, and Chelsey Sheehan and husband Riley; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John E. Means; father of her sons, James D. Poston; and seven siblings, Billy, Ann, Dan, Beth, Grayborn, Carl and Sandra; and precious grandson, James “Mike” Poston.

Services were under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
