A graveside service for Katie Jo Thomas, 88, of East Tawakoni, was held on September 28 at Spring Hill Cemetery in Omaha. Bro. Richard Kellam officiated.
Mrs. Thomas died on September 24, 2021, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Rowlett. She was born on January 29, 1933, in Naples to St. Elmo and Cora Smith Higgins. After graduating high school, she married James “Buster” Thomas on March 10, 1951, in Texarkana, Ark. She was a member of Point Church of Christ and cherished her horses.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her children, Dennis Thomas and wife Donna, Mike Thomas and wife Sarah, and Vickie Thomas; grandchildren, Jeff Jones, Jarrod Thomas, Christie Thomas, Nicholas Thomas, Casey Muse, Christian Thomas, Gabriel Thomas, Hope Thomas and Nicole Moody; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Kayla, Dylan, Savana, Kameron and Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2017; siblings, Ollie Mae Scarborough, Trina Stiddham, Howard Higgins, Euna Randolph, Timothy Higgins, Charles Higgins, Julia Higgins, Audie Lee Black and Billy Joe Higgins.
