Joyce Northcutt

1934 – 2023

Joyce Northcutt, 88, of Emory, died on January 31, 2023, at Sunny Springs Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs. She was born on February 7, 1934, to Raymond and Mary Hazel Davis in Dallas. She was a most wonderful mother to her four children. 

In her younger years, Mrs. Northcutt worked at the Italian Inn Restaurant in Dallas. She was a single mom for many years while raising four children. During this time, life was hard, she worked a split shift at the Italian Inn. Although money was tight, she was able to take care of her children. She would do without to provide for the kids. She provided good work ethics for her children and they always felt welcome at her home.

After her children graduated from school she worked for Payless Cashways in Dallas as a cashier and was an exemplary employee. She always had a smile on her face and was willing to help anyone.

She remarried David C. Northcutt and they lived together in Emory until he died in 2018. He was the love of her life. She originally married him when she was 17 years old. She was a wonderful cook and no one could ever turn down her home cooked meals. She was a housewife, mother and grandmother and was loved by all her children and grandchildren. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Emory and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her ability to make people laugh.

Mrs. Northcutt is survived by her brother, Truman Davis of Colorado; sister, Barbara Edwards and Wayne of Emory; sons, David A. Northcutt and wife Irene of League City, Dennis Northcutt of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dewayne Northcutt and Shawn of Emory; daughter, Debra McCormack and Mike of Plano; grandchildren, Shirlee Nikole Kempnich, Monique Mahan, Grant Northcutt, Lonnie Mooring, Ashley Allen, Amber Allen Carr, Jeffrey Northcutt, Justin Northcutt and Dewayne Northcutt Jr.; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and others who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Davis and her mother, Mary Hazel Jones, Brothers, Travis Davis and Merle Davis, Ricky Davis, sisters, Gloria Walker and Diane Davis, husband, David C. Northcutt and grandson David Wayne Northcutt.
