John Melton

1959 – 2023

Funeral services for John Melton, 64, of Emory, were held on June 26, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline. Sis. Delana Wheeler officiated.

Interment followed in Woodside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Billy Bob Hamilton, Roger Hurst, Matt Watkins, Donald Ray Roseman, Troy Alsip and Ronny Roseman.

Mr. Melton died on June 21, 2023, at his home. He was born on March 15, 1959, in Quitman, to Wildon Otto and Dixie Delores Norris Melton. He worked as a mechanic and welder most of his life. He loved being a cowboy, especially riding and training horses. He was also a singer and writer.

Mr. Melton is survived by his wife, Lejuana Jo Alsip of Emory; two sons, Marshal Melton (Brittany) of Grand Saline, and Eric Melton of Alba; three daughters, Kara Melton (Marc Maxfield) of Grand Saline, Desiree Brown (Kelly) of Henderson, and Kaylie Hasten of Mineola; stepsons, Sean Alsip and Troy Alsip; stepdaughters, Sarah Alsip and Syrena Alsip, both of Emory; three sisters, Deborah McDonald of Grand Saline, Rebecca Hernandez of Mineola, and Lynn Melton of Athens; twelve grandchildren, Cameren, Brandon, Bryan, Melany, Hunter, Kylie, Kynzi, Jackson, Everett, Maliah, Ryland and Ryleigh; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandchild, Bentley Maples.
