A graveside service for JC Jones, known to many as “Catfish Jones,” will be held at the Jones family reunion in October. Mr. Jones died on May 19, 2023, at his home in Emory. He was born in Bristol, on October 8, 1934, to Robert L. Jones and Loskie M. Stilwell. He was an electrician by trade and his first jobs were working on the set of the movie Bonnie and Clyde and building Town East Mall. He worked for Redden Electric in Dallas for a few years and worked the rest of his career as a master electrician with Hargrove Electric in Dallas. His work was mainly in commercial construction including Marriott hotels and Texas Stadium sky-boxes.
He was a member of IBEW Local 20 for 67 years and was a member of the Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge when he lived and worked in Dallas.
He loved fishing, gardening and in his early years, hunting. He built two of his homes and enjoyed working in his shop and building things around the homestead. He enjoyed wood carving.
Mr. Jones and Sandy were married in Winona, on December 15, 1986. They enjoyed the home JC built for eleven years, and then enjoyed eight years traveling the United States in an RV before his back pain made it necessary for him to stop traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandy Jones; son, Jeff Jones and wife Laurie; grandsons, Colin and Connor Jones; great-granddaughter, Paislee Jones; sister, Linda Lewis; nephews, Ronnie Jones and Kyle Lewis; and nieces, Renee Davis and Carol Wilcox.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his youngest son, Joel Jones and his oldest son, Jim Jones; brothers, Bobby Jones and wife Earlene, and Roland Jones and wife Marian; his youngest sister, Becky Jones; niece, Gail Radcliff; and nephew Kevin Lewis.
Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
