Jacob Casson Cooper

2000 – 2021

A funeral service for Jacob Casson Cooper, 20, of Emory, was held on March 5 at Lake Fork Baptist Church. Jason Rolen and Eric Christian officiated. 

Burial followed at Dougherty Cemetery in Emory. Pallbearers were Kyle Schellinger, Colton Barrett, Kerry Foster, Dakota Groves, Kyle Hargrove, Preston Morgan, Lucas Peeples, Dakota Pickett, Dalton Redmon and Sawyer Ridner. Honorary pallbearers were countless friends and the Rains High School Class of 2018. 

Mr. Cooper died on March 1, 2021. He was born on June 20, 2000, in Dallas to Jimmy “Jimbo” Casson Cooper II and Christina Michelle Shumate Cooper.

He is survived by his parents; brother, Jace Dane Cooper; the love of his life, Hannah Mae Tackett; grandparents, Jimmy “Cass” Casson Cooper, Rhonda “Ma-maw” Franklin, Dennie Shumate and Johnny Christian; great-grandparents, Don and Milinda Pinson, Mary Hartin, Melvin and Wanda Shumate, and A.B. and Loretta Godwin; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Kim Kenney, Eric and Savanna Christian, Mitch and Destiny Shumate, and Justin and Mackenzi Christian; and numerous cousins, great aunts and uncles, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen “Nanny” Cooper; great-grandfather, Weldon “Pop” Christian; aunt, Shanie Henley; and lifelong friend, Wesley Pruitt.
