Hubert D. McCarty

1944 – 2020

A memorial service for Hubert D. McCarty, 76, of Ector, was held on June 28 at his home. 

Mr. McCarty died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 15, 2020. He was born in New Mexico on May 7, 1944, to Jack and Lois Lee McCarty. He owned and operated a trucking business and he was a life-long trucker. He enjoyed being with family and friends. Family gatherings were very important to him. He loved attending auctions and horse sales. He never met a stranger and was friends with everyone he met.

Mr. McCarty is survived by his wife of 34 years, Diane McCarty of Ector; daughter, Karen Briggs; son, Donald Cotton; step-daughters, Staci Holley and Tonja McCoy; step-son, Chris Fletcher of Rains County; brother, Tom McCarty and wife Eva; sisters, Evelyn Kukowski, Janet Golden and husband Tom, Betty McCarty, and Brenda McCarty; step-brother, Charlie Lewis; grandchildren, TW and Lindsey Petty, Brittany and Jeremy Barnes, Summer and Dakota Wright, Lacee Carrell, Mackenzi and Justin Christian, Kristi McCoy, Makala McCoy, DJ and Crystal Cotton, Mercedez and Christian Arrington, Cody and Heather Cotton, Colton Cotton and Joseph Fletcher; great-grandchildren, Braedyn Petty, Chelsi Petty, Coby Barnes, Adin Barnes, Isabella Wright, Natalia Wright, Braxton Petty, Thatcher Petty, Azah Petty, Ryder Petty, Braxten Kelley, Luke Kelley, Skylar Connor, Lincoln Christian, Dakota Christian, Merrick Arrington, Pryor Cotton and Landon Hellyer; numerous nieces; nephews; and friends; including close friends, Todd Thomas, Steve Ingram, sister-in-law, Rhoda McCarty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Dakota Ryan Barker; son, Charles Wayne (Peanut) Chull; brothers, Jim McCarty and Cotton McCarty; sister, Margaret Duvall; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Derohn and Aaron Cooke. 

Arrangements were under the direction of Aria Funeral Home in Dallas.
