Horace Lee “H.L.” Barnhart

1942 – 2021

Funeral services for Horace Lee “H.L.” Barnhart, Sr., 78, of Alba, were held on November 30, at Enon Baptist Church in Alba. Bro. Reggie Day officiated. Pallbearers were Brett Barnhart, Jeffrey Barnhart, Jayden Barnhart, Aiden Haynes, Michael Barnhart, Easton Sadler, Sport Swoape and Grant Sadler. Interment was in Golden Cemetery.

Mr. Barnhart died on November 24, 2021, at his residence in Alba. He was born on December 25, 1942, in Farmersville, to Horace Marion and Gladys Estelle Kuykendall Barnhart. On November 13, 1961, he married Carolyn Louise “Kay” Thorson in Dallas. He had lived in the Alba area since 1976 and worked as a carpet layer. He loved for his family to come visit him at his home and he enjoyed playing his guitar, cornbread and buttermilk, and old cars. 

Mr. Barnhart is survived by sons, Lee Barnhart, Jr. and wife Tracy of Wills Point and Scott Barnhart and wife Celena of Alba; daughters, Angela Barnhart of Alba and Stephanie Sadler and husband Grant of Alba; sisters, Hazel Hunt of Mesquite, Tressie Pearman and husband Johnny of Wills Point, Lana Childers and husband Rick of Golden, and Martha Parker of Quitman; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years; six brothers; and two sisters.

Services were under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
