Emma Jane Harman

1932 – 2026

A memorial service for Emma Jane Harman, 94, will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 11:00 a.m., at Point Church of Christ. 

Mrs. Harman died peacefully at home on May 19, 2026. She was born on January 19, 1932, in Paris, Texas, to John and Agnes Gifford. 

Mrs. Harman had her master’s degree from East Texas State University and worked as an art teacher for the Dallas Independent School District until her retirement. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, painting, crafts, cooking, and traveling, especially going to the beach. She was a godly woman and a member of Point Church of Christ.

Mrs. Harman is survived by children Claudia Wilk, Terri Melancon and husband Charles, Tim Blaylock and wife Marlene, Karl Harman, and Marsha Harman; grandchildren, Jeff Wilk and wife Tasha, Robert Blaylock, Karen Fowler and husband Jess, Christine Wolfe and husband Jimmy, Matthew Melancon and wife Rachel, Harman Melancon and wife Lauren, Derek Harman and wife Kendra, and Bryce Harman and wife Shannon; sister, Wonda Banks; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Harman; sister, Priscilla Martin; and brother, Bud Gifford.
