A celebration of life service for Eddie Dean Poston, 75, of Dallas, will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, July 18, at the GoldRush Cafe, 1913 Skillman St., Dallas. Interment for Mr. Poston, and his partner, Melvin Baker, will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Alba, at a later date.
Mr. Poston died on July 7, 2022, at Hospice of East Texas after a short illness. He was born on March 28, 1947, in Alba, to Ermagene and Granville Poston. He was the third son of four boys with one sister.
He graduated from Alba-Golden High School in 1966. He attended East Texas State University in Commerce where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He worked for Western Electric which merged with Southwestern Bell. Southwestern Bell later became Lucent Technologies from which he retired.
He was a member of Munger Methodist Church in Dallas. He was an avid reader, had a deep love for the Lord and was an accomplished artist.
He loved going to the GoldRush Cafe where he regularly met with friends. He was a loving, sweet and compassionate person. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Poston is survived by his sister, Nancy Wilson of Emory: his brother, Andy Poston and wife Kay of Tyler; numerous nephews and nieces; and other relatives, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Melvin Baker; his parents; two brothers, James and Gilley Poston; and his grandparents.
