David Michael Vail, 62, formerly of Emory, was found deceased in his home in Rio Vista, on September 23, 2023. He was born on March 2, 2023, in Dallas, the firstborn son of seven sons born to Dennis Michael Vail and Deanna Joyce (Adams) Vail.
Mr. Vail lived in Emory with his parents from 1974-1975 and attended Rains ISD during the school year. He was baptized in 1975 in Arlington. He lived in Dallas with his grandmother from 1979-1994 and learned horticulture from her. He loved to vacation in Belize, especially Glover’s Atoll with friends and family.
His late grandfather, Leo Adams, was born in Emory (1911-1999), his great-grandparents Charles Columbus Adams (1874-1959) and Georgia Modena (Wafer) Adams (1878-1957) were born in Emory as well as many other relatives who lived in the county even before it’s formation.
Mr. Vail is survived by five brothers, Daniel Marc Vail, Don Skotch Vail, Douglas Micah Vail, Dennison Moses Vail and wife Melche Vail, and Derek Maai Vail; nine nephews and nieces, Dustin Shelby Vail, Jerime Scott Vail, Tyler Joseph Vail, Joshua Micah Vail, Jared Matthew Vail, Valerie Lorene Vail, Samantha Jaylynn Vail, Sienna Heidi Mykaela Vail and Leo Uriah Vail; uncles and aunts, Kenneth Bruce Vail, Jerry Wayne and Aletta Kaye Adams, Barabara Dean Adams, Terry Lee Potter, Margaret Claudia (Adams) and Jimmy Ray Zollicoffer; half-aunt, Alva Nell Adams; and a host of cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; paternal grandparents, Courtney Ballard Vail and Lois Pauline Glover Vail; and maternal grandparents, Alva Leo Adams and Annie Lorene McLaughlin Adams.
