Carl Ray McFerren

Memorial services for Carl Ray McFerren, 77, of Emory, were held on January 11 at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline. Andy Clower and Josh Self officiated.

Honorary pallbearers were the Grand Saline Cub’s baseball team (10U).

Mr. McFerren died on January 7, 2020, in Tyler. He was born February 13, 1942, in Paris to JP and Dorothy Cleo Ormand McFerren. He spent his early years in Mineola and graduated from Mineola High School, Class of 1960. He lived in the Lake Fork area for the last 30-plus years and retired from Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer, after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army and loved watching his grandkids play sports. 

Mr. McFerren is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lynda McFerren of Emory; son, Scott McFerren and wife Christy of Pittsburg; two daughters, Elizabeth Clower and husband Chuck of Grand Saline and Missy McFerren of Emory; grandchildren, Andy and Jessi Clower, Abby and Josh Self, Kinsey McFerren, Tanner McFerren and Avery Byrum; four great-grandchildren, Ella Clower, Henry Clower, Mason Self and Maddox Self; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry McFerren and Skippy McFerren.
