Bobbye Nell Cheek Elkins

1930 – 2023

Bobbye Nell Cheek Elkins, 92, died on April 21, 2023. She was born on November 11, 1930, in Emory, to Judge William Arthur Jones and Lessie Levisie Adams Jones. She was raised with strong religious values that she carried with her throughout her life. She was a devout Southern Baptist, finding comfort and guidance in her faith during life’s joys and challenges.

She married Brevard Cheek on September 9, 1950, in Rains County, and moved to Paso Robles, CA while he received military training. And lived in Alaska for his military service. After military service, they moved to Dallas, and later Tyler, where they had two children, Sheryl and David.

Late in life, she married Jimmie Elkins and continued to reside in Tyler. She retired from Tyler Weathermakers where she worked in accounting for over 30 years. She enjoyed daily walks, cooking, reading and puzzles. She traveled often with friends and family and enjoyed numerous trips and time spent with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing in the senior choir at Green Acres Baptist Church and cherished the many trips they enjoyed.

She was a devoted wife and mother and  provided unwavering love, support, and guidance to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. 

Mrs. Elkins is survived by her daughter; son; nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home on April 27, from 12:00-1:00 p.m.
