Bobby Charles Hooten

1941 – 2022

A Celebration of Life memorial service for Bobby Charles Hooten, 80, of Point, will be held on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 a.m., at the Point Church of Christ.

Mr. Hooten died on July 28, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 30, 1941, to Louise (Whittle) Hooten and Monroe Hooten in Greenville. He loved the Lord and lived his life as a devoted Christian.

After retirement from farming and ranching, he became grounds keeper and janitor for the Point Church of Christ. His hobbies included racing cars, hunting quail and more recently, fishing. When he wasn’t working, you could find him with a pole in his hands.

He had extreme love, passion, and dedication to family. Family, church and community were the most important aspects of his life and he poured his heart into each. He leaves lasting and wonderful memories for his family and friends.

Mr. Hooten is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cleta; son, Marty Hooten and wife Tammy; sister, Glenda Reid Potts and husband Randy; granddaughters, Jessica Brown, Devyn Dowdle and husband Brandon, and Jordan Hooten; great-grandchildren, Shelby Brown and Lincoln Brown; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Don Hooten; parents; and brother-in-law, Mike Reid.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Point Church of Christ Higher Ground and Camp Deer Run.

Online condolences may be made at the Lynch Funeral Service website.
