Ambrose Fitzgerald, forefather of Rains County

As the celebration of the sesquicentennial of Rains County approaches, it’s time to look back at some of the interesting people and situations that came together to create what we now call home. Ambrose Fitzgerald is one of those people. At his death, he had lived in five Texas counties and served as the first county clerk in three of them without moving from his original homestead.
