Funeral services for Mary Hazel Morrow Grubb, 92, will be held on Friday, January 12, at 2:00 p.m., at Emory Baptist Church, with Dr. Richard Piles officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Grubb died on January 7, 2024, in Emory. She was born on June 8, 1931, to John W. Morrow and Viola (Childers) Morrow. She graduated from Emory High School in 1948 as the Salutatorian. She moved to Dallas with her parents and began work at an insurance company. She met Norman E. Grubb and they were married on July 7, 1951. They lived in Dallas and Carrollton. They had two children.
Mrs. Grubb worked as a typist and a bookkeeper for several companies including Taylor Publishing and Friendly Chevrolet. Her favorite job was her last job, where she worked for a veterinarian. She could often be found working with a dog at her feet and a cat curled up in her file box.
After retirement she and Norman moved to the family farm in Emory. She enjoyed gardening and raising cows. After Norman died in 2006, Hazel joined Emory Baptist Church. She served as President of TEL for five years and loved being with the ladies of the Ruth Class. She was a Christian.
Mrs. Grubb is survived by daughter Gloria Smith; son, Randall Grubb; granddaughters,Katherine Burrow and husband Doug, and Jennifer Minney and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren Kayleigh Cantrell and fiancé Cody Sheffield, Christopher Allen, Gareth Allen, Timothy Minney and Tyler Minney; great-great-grandchildren Wrenleigh Sheffield and Braxton Sheffield.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Glen Morrow.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m at the church.
