Bennie Wynell Alexander

1929 – 2022

Funeral services for Bennie Wynell Alexander, 93, will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, February 11, at the Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory.

Mrs. Alexander died on February 7, 2022, at her home in Emory. She was born in Emory on January 19, 1929, to Edgar Bailey and Drexel Lawler Bailey. 

She met and married the love of her life, G.B. Alexander, in Emory on March 31, 1948.  They were married 54 years until G.B. died in 2002.  They moved to Dallas where their children were born and moved to Garland in 1956. They moved back to Emory in 1960 where they remained while raising their family. She was a member of Emory Baptist Church and of the Amazing Grace Sunday School Class. She loved all her dear friends.

Mrs. Alexander was a loving mother to her children and loved being MawMaw and TaTa to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She adored and cared deeply for all her family.  She was not only a housewife, but a help-mate in everything her husband did.  Whether they were checking pastures, milking dairy cows, repairing fences or so much more, they were always together.  She was also an extremely good cook and loved cooking for her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Jennings and husband Tony, and Carolyn Emig and husband Ed, all of Emory; daughter-in-law, Rachelle Alexander McWhorter and husband Sam of Gilmer; grandchildren, Tim Jennings, Brent Jennings and wife Charise, Corey Alexander and wife Kassie, Lexie Alexander, Kara Gearner and husband Sammy and Kam Emig and wife April; great-grandchildren, Jace Jennings and wife Kate, Trent Jennings, Ashley Jennings, Kagen Scott, Hatley Scott, Maddie Alexander, Cole Alexander, Garrett Gearner, Gentry Gearner, Erin Emig, Emma Emig and Evan Emig; brothers, Jackie Butler, Robert Bailey and Don Bailey; sister, Fern McNutt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; precious son, Ray Alexander; mother, Drexel Butler; step-dad, Charlie Butler; dad, Edgar Bailey; step-mom, Delia Bailey; brothers, Lee Butler, George Bailey and Ray Bailey; sisters, Charlene Yarbray and Frances Pierson.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, at the funeral home chapel.
