Gerald Dean McLarry

1958 – 2021

Funeral services  for Gerald Dean McLarry, 63, of Emory, will be held on Friday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Lannius Church of God located at 295 Lannius Rd, Dodd City. Bro. Roy Burpo and Bro. Mark Garrett will officiate. 

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Munson, Dwain Kirby, Daniel Taylor, Gary Hicks, Kenny Burks, Billy Don Burks, Tommy Burks and Kevin Slaton. Honorary pallbearers will be James Munson, Matthew Munson, Garrett Knight, Curtis Kirby, Jared Hicks, William Nelson and Landry Dederick. 

Mr. McLarry died on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Trinity Mother Frances Facility. He was born in Bonham on October 7, 1958, to Herman Wesley McLarry and Sarah Frances (Burks) McLarry.  

He married Jamie Rae (Jones) McLarry on November 17, 2018, in Rains County. He worked for Rains County Road and Bridge,  operating heavy machinery. He enjoyed hunting and small engine repairs. He served as a volunteer fireman in Savoy for 20 years and in Emory for three years. He enjoyed playing in the Bull Creek Cowboy Church band, where he was a member, and playing at nursing homes. He was always willing to help anyone. 

Mr. McLarry is survived by his wife; daughter, Keysha Knight and husband Dustin of Lannius; daughter, Kathy Dederick of Bonham; bonus-son, Josh Munson and wife Kelsey of Emory; grandchildren, Garrett Knight, Kasey Knight and Landry Dederick; bonus-grandchildren, Kaitlin McIntire, James Munson and Matt Munson; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. 

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Janet McLarry; and his parents.  

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home, Bonham from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
