Services for Wesley Earl Hobbs, 86, of Quitman, were held March 18 at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home in Alba. Bro. Randy Bohannan and Bro. Michael Bohannan officiated.
Interment was in Golden City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Bohannan, Tim Bohannan, Randall Bohannan, Brandon Bohannan, Billy Hobbs and Corey Hobbs.
Mr. Hobbs died on March 15, 2021, in Tyler. He was born July 29, 1934, in DeKalb to Thomas Aldas and Lizzie Mae Smith Hobbs. When he was young, he won the Golden Glove Award in boxing. He moved from Fort Worth to the Wood County area 10 years ago and was a member of the Open Door Fellowship Church in Alba.
Mr. Hobbs served two years in the United States Army. He loved watching westerns, especially ones with John Wayne. He also enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.
Mr. Hobbs is survived by daughters, Debbie Bohannan and husband Randy of Alba, Cindy Everett and husband Scott of El Paso, Lisa Westervelt and husband Tim of Alba, and Becky Hollis and husband Jim of Golden; brother, John Hobbs and wife Betty of Springtown; sister-in-law, Barbara Hobbs of Haltom City; 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dessie Combs; two brothers, Robert Hobbs and James Hobbs; infant granddaughter, Jessica; and four infant great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Wilson Bartley Funeral Home.
