Bobby Joe Kile

1944 – 2026

Bobby Joe Kile, 82, died on May 21, 2026, at his home in Emory, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 5, 1944, at the family farm in Rains County to Samuel Laroe Kile and Dorothy Lucille Gray Kile.

Mr. Kile was a proud member of Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized in May of 1960. On March 23, 1983, he became a deacon of the church. He had a servant’s heart and was always ready to put the needs of others before his own.

On April 16, 1965, he married Joan Martin, in Rains County. They were married for 61 years and had countless moments building a life full of memories. They raised two children, Sidney and Amy. He went on to be an active and loving Pepaw, always being there for his grandchildren.

From a young age, he knew the value of hard work and loyalty. He began his career with the Texas Department of Transportation after finishing high school. Starting as the low man on the totem pole, he steadily worked his way up to become the maintenance supervisor by the time he retired. He loved hunting and fishing, gardening and woodworking.

Mr. Kile is survived by his loving wife, Joan Kile; children, Sidney Kile and Susan, and Amy Stinson and Eric; grandchildren, Kaitlin Kile and Jace, Samuel Edwards and Trinity, and Matthew Edwards and Kelsi; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Kile, Ronnie Kile and Suzy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Donations may be made to any one of Mr. Kile’s favorite organizations in his honor,  Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, Good Samaritans of Rains County, Pilgrims Rest Cemetery or ALS Research Foundation.
