Graveside services for Joseph Carlyle “J.C.” Hooten, 90, will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 10:30 a.m., at Lynch Cemetery located at 8875 SH-276.
Mr. Hooten died on September 20, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 28, 1935, in Point. He attended Lynch School and graduated from Point High School in 1953. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1958. After leaving the service, he settled in Magnolia and lived there for the rest of his years.
Mr. Hooten is survived by three sisters, Catherine Smith, Chloe House and Linda Gray; brother, James Hooten and wife Carolyn; brother-in-law, Leon Free; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mattie Sue Free; and two nephews, Jeff Smith and Glenn Gray.
After graveside services, a celebration of life will be held in Rose Community Center at 239 E. Quitman Street in Emory to share memories, stories, and love as we celebrate JC’s life.
