A grave side service for William “Bill” Bruce Stovall Sr., 86, of Point, is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, at Lone Star Cemetery in Point. Bro. Jay Sikes and Bro. Zach Honzell will officiate.
Mr. Stovall died peacefully at his home, on Thursday, March 19, 2020. He was born in Dallas on August 22, 1933, to James Roy and Gladys Wilton Moore Stovall. At age 20, Bill joined the United States Navy to proudly serve his country. He worked as an aircraft engine mechanic, and he was able to travel and see different parts of the world. Afterwards, he decided to go straight into the Navy Reserves. He married Dorothy Fern Hunter in Dallas on November 1, 1961. He worked as a grocery store manager for Piggly Wiggly for many years while raising his family.
He had so much fun traveling and stopping at all the different state parks, roadside parks and rest areas. Spending time outdoors just made him happy. He also took great pride in keeping his yard mowed and manicured beautifully. He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching them play in his gorgeous yard. Bill was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Point. He will be missed by all of his dear friends and family, everyone whom he loved.
Mr. Stoval is survived by his wife of Point; daughters, Dorothy Smith of Point and Brenda Massey and husband Doug of Grand Prairie; sons, Sam Edwards and wife Suzanne of Yantis, and William “Billy” B. Stovall Jr. and wife Roxann of Point; sister, Judy Thomas of Winnsboro; numerous precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.
