A funeral service for Verlene House, 82, of Point will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, at the Lone Oak Assembly of God Church in Lone Oak
Interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.
Mrs. House died on August 11, 2020. She was born in Emory to Cecil and Ruth (Hall) Pounds. She married Junior House on May 22, 1953, in Rains County.
Mrs. House was a member of Lone Oak Assembly of God Church. She loved to sing, teach and learn about the Lord. She had a passion and love for her family and her Christian faith. She turned to prayer in all avenues of her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were treasured and spoiled by her, always being read to and played with while enjoying her full attention.
Mrs. House is survived by sons, John and wife Brenda House and Joe and wife Merinda House; daughters, Doris Forbes and husband Tim and Iva Smith; sister, Nell Johnson and husband Roy; brother: Kenneth Pounds and wife Bonnie; grandchildren, Trena, CharlieAnn, Teri, Kimberly Dawn, Bobbie-Jo, Terry Lynn, Dewayne, Brandon, Evan and Weston; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Joan Lomax; granddaughter, Toni Mattern; great-grandchildren, Daylin Lorenz, Kayla Cooke, Adriana Forbes and Beau House. Her son-in-law, Tim Forbes, died two days after her death.
