Funeral services for Sammye Lee Cotton, 43, of Wills Point, were held on November 21, at Mullin-Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Mrs. Cotton died on November 16, 2022, after battling ALS. She was born on January 1, 1979, in Garland, to Richard and Joi Anette Foster. She was raised in Emory and moved to Wills Point in 2004.
She married Robert Cotton on October 8, 2005 and they had two children. She was the telecommunications manager for the City of Garland and also worked at the McKinney Police Department as a 911 dispatcher. She worked with MECDA (Municipal Emergency Communications District Association) as the treasurer, and was a member of APCO (Association of Public Safety Communication Officials) and NENA (National Emergency Number Association. She held two certifications ENP (Emergency Number Professional) and CMCP (Center Manager Certification Program). She loved boating and fishing. She loved every minute of watching her boys play sports. She was always taking selfies and making everyone laugh.
Mrs. Cotton is survived by her husband of Wills Point; her father of Emory; sons, Dillon Cotton and Cody Cotton of Wills Point; sister, Sara Foster of Leonard; grandmother, Leta Mae Rabe; father and mother-in-law, Luke and Diane Cotton of Wills Point; brother-in-law, Michael and Honey Cotton; sister-in-law, Stephannie Saucedo and husband Ovidio of Wills Point; and many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and grandfather, Sammy Hurst who also passed of ALS.
