Funeral services will be held for Sally Faye Grubbs Stuart, age 101, of Sulphur Springs, Texas,on Saturday, December 2, at 2:00 p.m., at Woosley Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Lanie Dugan, Austin Dugan, Bryant Bulkley, Clint Bulkley, Rusty Armstrong, Kirk Stuart, Mark Stuart, Kolsten Stuart and Jaden Grammer. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Sally Faye Grubbs Stuart died on 11/28/2023. She was born on 4/10/1922 to Mancel and Sallie Grubbs in Midlothian, one of 15 children. At 16, she moved to Dallas to live in a boarding house with Mr. and Mrs. Preston. She got a job working in an ice cream shop and soon secured a job in the soda fountain at Southern Methodist University. One by one, her sisters moved into the boarding house.
She met George Stuart and before long they were engaged to be married. They were married for 10 years before they had their first child. Sally was a full time mother. They moved to Point in 1970 after George retired from Ford Motor Company. She got a job at the Rains Independent School District as a cook where she prepared delicious meals for the students for almost 10 years.
Sally and George remodeled an old house on the property that they had bought. She hauled water to the house from his parents home for years until they finally got their own well. She did everything from sheetrock work, to climbing on the roof to paint the doghouses. They lived in the white house with a porch across the front for the rest of George’s life.
She was a member of Woosley Baptist church, where she was baptized at 23, and was a member for almost 80 years.
Sally is survived by her son Gary Stuart and his wife Denise; granddaughter, Amie Stuart Dugan and husband Lanie; grandson, Mark Stuart and wife Dani; bonus granddaughters, Stephanie Grammer and Bethany Grammer; bonus grandson, Kelsey Grammer; great-granddaughter, Allison Dugan; great-grandsons, Austin Dugan and Kolsten Stuart; and bonus great-grandsons, Jaden Grammer and Austin Grammer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; great-granddaughter, Addison Dugan; and all of her siblings.
